Post not appearing

I've had 2 email alerts about a new post by @strongylodon but can't see the new post in "What's buzzing or flying..." Can also see a listing for the post under "Spy" but get an error when I click on it.

Along the same lines.....when I reply to a thread, it disappears from the 'new posts' list, but for what seems a very long time Does every single post get scrutinised before the thread is re-instated? That would explain the delay.

 

I have the same problem often reply to a post then never seen agian unless I look in spy

 

I think the problem with my post was as Zigs says that I was editing them but I'm not sure what happened as I decided to delete the post instead so it shouldn't have come up at all!

I was having problems uploading pics using 'upload a file' instead of Photobucket, the pics appeared in preview but when posted I just got an 'attatched file text' which wasn't what I was expecting so I deleted it. May be I am doing something wrong , what, I don't know.

 

Thanks for clearing that up @strongylodon. I guessed you must have deleted the post. Either that or you were typing your edits veeeeeeery slowly

Re your "attached file" issue, I've observed something similar but can't identify the exact circumstances which cause it

 

Once you have read it then it is no longer new, and thus it doesn't reappear in the New Posts list - until someone created a new reply to the thread. (Exception being if there are several pages, and you only read "some" then it will still be in the New Posts list and clicking that will take you to the first not-yet-read page)

If you go to New Posts then at the top-right is a link to "Recent Posts". That's exactly the same as the New Posts list but including the ones you have read.

 

It was only staff that could see your posts Strongy, but the email alert to anyone watching a thread had already been sent, that's what was confusing HsuH.

I saw that it'd only come up as an attached file, not sure why that was. Think its happened to me before, like you, I deleted it and tried again.

 

Just a heads up for Admin then Ziggy: the same thing can happen with a PM email notification

I've read edited ones on GC, but read the full content in the email notifications. If the sender has elected to edit the PM it seems unfair to the sender (and the recipient, depending on the edit) that the recipient gets to read the unedited version.

Perhaps if people were aware of that, they may choose to think harder before hitting the "send" button instead of relying on the "edit" button?
