Nooooo! Kitchen stuff is off limits for wifely presents. Although a toaster is not quite as bad as a deep fat fryer.

We're unconcerned whether it's a 'practical' item or not, as long as it's something that will get well used and be appreciated.

We're also very relaxed about timing of both Xmas & birthday presents as we can normally get something much better and much cheaper with a full year to search out the best deal, rather than rush out and buy whatever's available and pay whatever's being charged at Xmas. Leaving the 50% or 75% off stickers on has become a bit of a tradition/competitive.

That's where blokes are different from the girls, despite my best hints over many years, I still don't have either a Sugar Thermometer or a decent sized loaf tin:doh:

I get given carefully thought out books, that if folk had thought slightly more carefully, they would have sussed that I probably already have.

Someone lovely has given me enough money to get a hardback copy of a book I used to have in paperback, but used so much it actually fell apart :):):)

I always thought that loaf tins were around the same size? What size were you needing?

Only ones i've got are about 4 inches by 8, fine for cakes or malt loaf.

Would love one that fitted a standard sized Mothers Pride type size, just not seen one in the shops:dunno:

One of those thermometers with rather interesting graduations like 'soft crack' and 'hard crack'? I remember being parked up next to a mate's Westmorland Star at Glastonbury when he was in dire need of one of those.

I recently bought a digital one - super accurate, and does everything right up to sugar.

Well I for one wouldn't mind getting one of those.:) or bath things, massage oil, perfume. I certainly wouldn't think it had a suspicious motive behind it coming from someone close. A relative stranger giving you massage oil on the other hand..............
