Spybot keeps telling me it has found this. Run in Admin mode it claims to have removed it, but when I run it again, the thing is still there. There is nothing in Task Manager Processes saying that the Trojan is running ( looked at as recommended by a how to remove thread) nor does my Search program find any of the components of it. So how do I prceeed? And keep it very simple, the threads I have read so far leave me even more confused. I is a simple old man.
A quick search on Google informs us that this is a bit of Malware that SpyBot fails to remove. The method I would choose to remove it would be to follow the instructions on this site which recommends TDSS Killer from Kapersky. Note that you'll need to rename TDSS Killer before you can run it, as win32.downloader prevents many of the various anti-malware running normally. Best of luck!
Daft thing is that Malawarebytes which is supposed to remove it, does not even tell me it exists. Windows Defender is also supposed to remove it and does not say it is there. Even more odd is that Search cannot find any of its components either. Sorry should have mentioned that I did run the Kapersky thing and it too found no infections. Ta.
Did you rename Kapersky as suggested in the above link? If not, the malware may have stopped TDSSKiller from actually running.
Have you tried RKill + Malwarebytes? (rather than just Malwarebytes) That combination worked for me when getting rid of a nasty Trojan (Security Shield) on my daughter's laptop. There might be a better explanation around than this http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/499255/need-help-with-win32downloadergen/page-2 so might be worth a Google site search of bleepingcomputer.com for RKill + Wind32.Downloader
