Have You noticed if you keep something long enough it comes back in Fashion ?.
I remember in the 50s the trousers we wore were Drainpipes, they were so tight it took about a half hour to get them on and an hour to get them off:smile:.
Jackets were (Fingertips),when you went to the tailors for a fitting you stretched your hands down the side of your legs and were your fingers touched the side of your leg that was where the length of your jacket stopped. It was a Beggar if you had extra long arms.:).
(And We Thought We Were Cool)

Then in the late 50s we had the Italian Style.
The Bum Tickler jacket,(so short), if your trousers were a bit baggy at the rear, from the back it looked like your rear cheeks were having a Fight, when walking along the street.
(And We Thought We Were Cool).

Then in the 70s we had the Flare Trousers and the tight fitting Jacket.
I think it was a battle to see who had the biggest Flares, we looked the shape of Pyramids.

(And We Thought We Were Cool).

I have noticed recently young ones wearing Drainpipe Trousers, Long Jackets,Flared Trousers, Short Jackets, Winkle picker Shoes, just about everything we wore years ago..
I should have kept all my Gear , I could have made myself a few pounds today.:dbgrtmb:.

What Fashions Do You Remember Growing Up ,Which Made You feel Cool, And Look Cool ?.

( We Have All Been There.);););).

You could indeed, it would all have been worth a bit on Ebay - or you could have worn it! They do say if you wore it the first time around you shouldn't wear it the second time around. But I just ignore them.

When I was a teenager we wore home-made mini dresses, I had a fab orange one with green polka dots. We also thought duffle coats were cool for some strange reason. Most of my clothes came from jumble sales where you could get some seriously good quality vintage kit in those days.

I remember wrap-around full-length Indian skirts when I was a student. I also had a denim maxi and a Donegal tweed maxi. My knees never saw the light of day for some years, and still don't as I wear jeans all the time. I also had a black floral voile maxi dress that was pretty damn cool in every sense of the word. Worn with bare feet as it was C 1969 and I was a bit of a hippy wild child.

Several years later it was split-knee loons with flared-sleeve t-shirts. Long hair, of course. And cheesecloth shirts - I still love cheesecloth.

Then I started work and things got boringly respectable for a while. Except for the biker's jacket.

Now that temporary blip is over I'm free to wear whatever age-inappropriate garment takes my fancy. Peasant embroidery at the moment! I gather dungarees are back in. I haven't worn them since 1986, quite fancy a rerun.

Home made dresses in the 60's ............I remember standing on the kitchen table as a child with mum pinning dress material on me and trying to watch ready steady go on the TV at the same time......... I didn't know whether I was a child or a voodoo doll at times! lol!
Loved cheese cloth blouses and dresses and espadrilles that smelt awful after 3 hours wear!
70's....... sitting in the bath with jeans on to shrink them! Platform shoes ....We used to spend hours retouching heels and platforms with Miners nailpolish, then we used to sneak them to school and have confiscated!
Fashion drawings in Jackie magazine ........happy days!

Oi'll give it foive! I remember lying down in a shop to get the jeans zip done up, then you'd know they were tight enough. It was the original Levi's you had to shrink in the bath, I never had a pair of those, but my cool mate did, I was pea-green with envy.

Yep there was a few of us doing the jean zips on changing room floors....... Red faces and gritted teeth lol!
I remember buying jeans from stolen from Ivor as well! Didn't try them on because blokes around in shop, they never did fit and I was too embarrassed to take them back!
We use to try and substitute school shirts and jumpers for long puff-sleeve blouses with half sleeve jumpers! As for coveting .....my mates turn back cuff blouse with red and blue hearts on it and she my double cherry print midi skirt .....
