Humans don't learn, there's been quite alot of deaths in the uk but that's people going about there daily bizz and walking footpaths, if you want to play with a bull then you will have to take the pain even death, I feel sorry for the bull being put into that situation, never trust a bull even less when it got horns

I enjoyed it for the same reason as Loofah. In all fairness there are no spears involved, and some rope is used to help restrain if needs be (or they can actually do it!).

I'm sure that @Wylie can share some more on this one.

 

You notice that they are on a rope, and there is a team of men allowing the (mostly) drunk fools to get roughed up a little. This is almost exclusive to the island of Terceira (where I am), every village has at least 1 of these as part of the village festival which lasts a week, and the bulls are not harmed in any way - just taken out for a bit of exercise. Most of the time professionals play with them. My main objection is that the police don't stand at the exits to the villages and give breathalizer tests to every driver leaving, because too many are stupid drunk.

Incredible. Fancy taking on a bull like that it looked as though he was enjoying it and if all those were quite happy to get tossed about and possibly damaged then good luck to them.

These village festivals are starting this month and will continue to October; and there will be around 250 of the "Street Fights". There is an American base here, and playing with the bulls is off limits to the point that Medical will not treat any injuries caused by them. You have to go to the local hospital and pay them to treat you. By the time the bulls are rented (selecting the bulls is another party), permits paid for (including a permit to fire sky rockets to signal the start of each bulls run); it costs around 10,000 euros.

 

The street fights are free. Sometime in the next 2 months, some men will come around asking for a donation to the village festive which includes the bulls. For my village (Altares) it is in September.
