I have only just discovered that if you click on the location of the poster (assuming they have firstly put one and second that it is a place in reality) you get a Google map of that area with lovely photographs of the area. I'm well impressed with those of Portugal and I could even locate the hotel we stayed in on Faial Island, Açores, where we went to for our 25th Anniversary. :hapfeet:

Thanks Admin, that is really a nice feature!
    :ThankYou:

According to mine I live in college about 10 miles away.

Just looked again and its not what it appears, yes my location is there for all the world to see.
just wondering how they come up with this its a bit scary.

I'm now thinking of deleting my location from my posts

Its just a Google Map search for "mid Kent". Stick the nearest town in perhaps? I don't remember where you live, but if you put "Gillingham, Kent" in your location you'd get this as your Map:
            https://maps.google.com/maps?q=Gillingham+Kent

            Another feature:

You can click on the Date/Time of a post (at the bottom of the post) to get a link direct to that post, within that thread. Can be handy if you want to point someone at a specific post ...

It's a cunning ploy to hide the true location of GCHQ Dorset, pretend it's in Devon :th scifD36:

But if using a GPS enabled device it might lead somebody to think that the GC Xenforo software has put that blue marker where they live, when it's the red pin nearby that it's added.

It also does some funny things, like keep making my location in a wine shop (might be just for me as Google thinks I like wine). Another one is that if I use Google Maps on a GPS tablet it gives @Zigs location as next door to me!

It had me worried for a minute I must admit, as when I went to that page, it pinpointed my actual house, but I've since thought that maybe it was just showing that to me as I was probably logged into google maps or some such.

Clicking on my location puts me in America. How'd I get there?
