        Morning all

Still very misty here and the sun is struggling to break through. Quite chilly too.

Hope you can stay indoors in the warm today Moyra and nurse that cold.

How lovely of you to take the poppy in Loli. My son's girlfriend got one and it's beautiful. Hope it gets through to the residents on some level. It's amazing what some people can connect with even when they seem locked in another world.

Finally decided on the spot for Tiffy's rosebed and got it dug out and prepared yesterday. I got Whiskey Mac, For Your Eyes Only and Fragrant Delight and will plant them up with her ashes today. Bittersweet, but will hopefully be lovely in the summer.

        Have a lovely Sunday everyone

              Good afternoon everyone,

              Wishing you lots better Moyra:grphg:....

Shiney...The 'Poppy' I took to work was the Poppy from the Tower of London not the feathered variety .It took some explaining to the residents but I think I got through. It certainly got them talking and some old memories came flooding back,I think it was just as much a treat for me as it was for them:wub2:...Re the PAT scheme it's a marvellous idea:dbgrtmb: When I had my old Gladys :chicken: the residents loved her she was a real sociable old bird .
              Good luck with the match:thumbsup:

Eve...What a lovely idea, tinged with sadness but you can still hang on to those lovely memories:grphg:...

Daisies ...Nice to see you in these parts:thumbsup:

              Woo...:grphg:...

It's 5 years today since I lost my furry Duggleby:doggieshmooze: and the first year I can remember him without quite such a heavy heart.Dog in a million he was:wub2:

              Have a good evening all:thumbsup:

                Good morning everyone.

                Hope everyone is OK:thumbsup:..

It's not bad out there considering we're in to December, definitely dressing gown weather though:snork:.. and it's nice to see the ground drying up a bit:blue thumb:
My turn to' Builder sit' today and keep an eye on the dogs. The back gate is left open for the builders to to and fro to their vans and get the wood and what not off the drive and I'm worried the two furry tinkers go for a wander:rolleyespink:

Wishing everyone well, take it easy and take care:SUNsmile:

                Aloha everyone,

                Whoops!! :heehee:

You've got your hands full with the furries if the back gate is open :hate-shocked:

Daisees, welcome to Wakey Wakey :wub2:

Moyra, I hope your cold is getting better :grphg:

                Woo, keep improving :)

The Cambridge University match went well yesterday. Fortunately the weather held off as we couldn't park in the university, so had to do some walking. The match was held in Queens' College with is situated right on the river. I didn't take my camera with me which is a pity as the 'Mathematical Bridge' is in the grounds.

                http://cambridgetravelguide.bestcambridge.org/cambridge-mathematical-bridge/

For these inter-county matches (our region is the eastern counties so the University comes into it) we usually have three squads playing at the same time but the universities can only field two teams (teams of eight players). My team had a fairly easy time of it. The opposition were quite good but inexperienced. The other team had a very difficult match as the university was fielding a team of 'Junior England' players. Our team won that match but it's the first match that particular university team has lost this season.

Tonight I have a tough match to play in the county league. The opposing team have all 'county' players (they all played in the match yesterday) whereas just two of my team are 'county' players. We have a forty mile drive to the other side of the county for a 7.30 p.m. start so won't get home until tomorrow. :phew:

Keep well and have a great day

                Aloha!

                Morning all

Cold and damp and dull here

Shiney that is a lot of Bridge! Well done on the Cambridge victories and good luck for tonight

Hope your cold starts to ease off Moyra

Have fun stopping the furries from going a wandering Loli.

Feeling very unmotivated today but must get on and do 'stuff'

                Have a great day everyone

                Thanks everyone,

I'm not doing too much playing of bridge this week. Apart from yesterday and this evening I'm only playing tomorrow, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. :heehee:

Morning all. I don't often get the chance to look in on this thread as I'm normally at work all day, but I'm off sick today with a bit of a back problem which flared up a few days ago. Not ideal
for someone who works as a full time gardener, but hopefully a few days rest will put it right.

At least it gives me a chance to spend more time loitering here on GC so that's good anyway.

Hope the cold clears up soon Moyra, look after yourself. :)

Keep an eye on those builders Loli, does that mean you're on tea making duties today then? (No stereotypes here of course).

Done absolutely nothing in the garden over the weekend due to the back :wallbanging:, but Mrs Trunky has detailed me to pick a few sprouts from the garden for this evening's meal, so I'm going to venture out later for a bit of gentle sprout picking and check up on the chickens and the rest of the garden while I'm at it.
