The Iridaceae (Iris family) Thread 2014

Since most of the Moraeas are winter growing, spring flowering, I would start them soon. I just started M. polystachya, and out of 20 seeds, 18 have come up in the last few days. It took 3 weeks, and to get the temperature fluctuation that helps them to germinate, I brought them into my house during the day and put them outside at night (I live in a warmer frost-free place than you). I also started M. gigandra and M. pendula this year with the same great results.

I think that Wylie has it covered. I have no idea how fresh they need to be I'm afraid.
