We've had vases of them in the house for a little while. I love them, but my daughters think they are a "granny" flower :(

DW hates Dahlias, and luke warm to Gladioli, not sure what else to grow for long-season cut flowers?

I've got some roses in the cutting bed, but they are bit of a "crop" plant - First flush, Second flush, and then they are about done.

I've grown some pots of Freesias for the Winter, but they don't look anything special yet - and germination was poor (maybe I need a more specialist seed supplier)

Sorry Robert, didn't mean to hijack your thread ...

Tell daughters it's your house, not there's!

Lovely sweet peas Robert. I look forward to mine starting to flower soon, but I left it a bit late for sowing them so it might be a while yet...

 I must be doing something wrong with mine, not a hint of a flower, and it would be one of my favorite summer flowers!

Maybe one day they will flower!

They have been in flower for quite some time but first vase full was last week. I sowed my last sept so had a head start on the growing season. Does anyone have a link to a good definitive guide to growing sweet peas?

I was recently told that planting holes should be dug at least two foot deep and have a handful of lime in there, I've looked online but just always seem to find info on the basics...any specialist pages you know of?

    Nice flowers Rob..:)

    Steve...:)

"Now theres a hint if ever I have seen one"

I'm saving up my loo-rolls to send as I type this ... :D

"Does anyone have a link to a good definitive guide to growing sweet peas?"

Not sure of anything definitive enough to discuss liming planting holes, but there is some info in Eagle's site - I disagree with their do-not-soak and do-not-chit advice!
