Impressive but more so if he put his own spin on it. Wonder how long that all took him? All that neck bending to look up at the ceiling....painful! Didn't he know that Michaelangelo painted the ceiling from a horizontal position, i.e. lying along wooden planks (supported by a ladder at each end)?

Interestingly there is a church in Goring not far from Brighton where an artist has also painted a copy of the sistine chapel

            http://www.sistinechapeluk.co.uk/

maybe there's something in the air!

Isn't it also questionable whether Michaelangelo painted it alone?

Well, no doubt, he had others to do some of the more mundane backdrop parts but surely none can doubt that the main body of work was done by himself.

Oh yes, there's no doubt that he was the lead artist but he led a team of others and also undertook the work with reluctance because he considered himself to be a sculptor first and foremost.

Ah but he has, he obviously has a sense of humour as well as great skill.

Can you see who this is?

Yes I heard that too. I guess you had to go where the work is if you need the money....he must have been proud of it though.

Reminds me of that wonderful film 'one way pendulum' where they recreated the old Bailey in their living room and had a collection of speak your weight machines to sing the hallelujah chorus in the attic, iirc!

Re. the OP - so Robert Burns did that to his council house? Never seen a spacious council house like that...guess he got permission to knock down some adjoining walls?

Yes I agree, I tried to work that out too but if you look at the photos carefully you can see that there are many distortions (look at the shape of the bed, the wide picture of the top of the landing compared with the one where he is walking up the stairs etc) so I'dbe interested to know what sort of camera/photographs were used.
