    Maybe: but, "altered images" are all part and parcel of the scrapbook hobby and in those circumstances I have no issues with playing around with image software filters.
    Mind you, I suppose if you consciously decide to change your camera mode to B&W technically you are still altering the intended image in the same way as if you changed your film from a colour to black and white one. After all, our world isn't black and white, even when viewed through a camera lens.

    Yes, but changing the camera's function isn't physically altering the picture after the event. I prefer to leave them the way the camera takes them and as my eye sees them through the viewfinder. :)
