I've recently purchased Birthday Boy, I think I know the answer but just need clarification.... once the rose has finished flowering would it be advisable to prune the length down to the remaining of the plant?

 

Yes, that will be fine Apple Blossom, don't forget to slant the cut.

 

And just above where a leaf joins the main stem.
