The mother in law needed a new toaster ( god knows what she does with them ! ) and a doorbell . Nipped down to the retail park Argos , about 1 mile from her house , forgot my wallet - drat:gaah: Went back to chez HarryS and ordered the said items plus a nice stainless desk lamp for me , the order was over £50 , at 1 o'clock this afternoon. They delivered - for free - at 3:20. How good is that :dbgrtmb: Better than the tax cheat Amazons drones :snork:

It is quick . Most big mail order firms, like Amazon and Screwfix , have large central hub warehouses . Lots in the Birmingham area , for good distribution. Argos must be picking and delivering from local superstores. We are about 4 miles from one. So they won't be able to offer same day delivery to all the country I would think .

Was well worth £5 not to go to the retail park on a Saturday afternoon :blue thumb:
I think you only get the Argos £5 and £10 vouchers on the in store receipt , is that correct ?

I agree. We have two Argos stores in Wakefield and both have long queues no matter when you go. I have used the free same day delivery a couple of times but never as fast as yours.

Yes, and it's infuriating how much stuff at Argos is 1p short of either £50 or £100, but it only needs a cheap packet of pencils adding to get over the thresholds, pencils then get given to ourv daughter for Xmas/birthdays.

The Argos nearest us is also a nightmare over a weekend as it's close enough to the town centre to get filled with hundreds of cars who's drivers use it as a free car park, so we order online and drive a few more miles to another town with Homebase that's got an Argos instore, parking is easy (no other stores there that attract Xmas shoppers) never any queues, check for reductions there (then in a nearby Wilkos with free parking outside), also collect ebay orders from that Homebase/Argos (and collect Amazon orders from my village Post Office), I hate staying in waiting for deliveries.

P.S. That Homebase has got a Pets at Home in the next unit but one, so Pup also comes along and Mrs Scrungee and I both use our PAH cards to get our free packets of dog treats using the coupons from their magazine (+ yet another free copy each of the same mag with the free treats coupon in because it's free with every purchase which includes those free dog treats :doggieshmooze:) and he has a great time there, we get endless free dog treats, also forgot there's a Wyevale the other side of town with enormous open grassy spaces for Pup whilst I use the vouchers from their latest mailing.
