What is the maximum temperature that should be allowed in a greenhouse before taking plants outside because it's too hot?

Depends what the plants are really - if its Spuds in containers to get an early crop then they probably need to be outside (during the day) anyway.

If its Peppers that like it hot anyway, then 40C (at a pinch - obviously better that ventilation didn't let the temperature get that high) I would think.

Greenhouses are usually adjusted for human comfort levels, plants would be happy with 90f with 90% RH.. people wouldn`t though

Probably the best option is to use a combination of shadecloth, misting and ventilation.
Putting everything outside on a really hot sunny day might not help.
