I ordered a small anklet chain for Mrs C for Christmas, and it was delivered today - to my horror, it was delivered in a bag, inside which was one of those tiny wee clear bags (about an inch and a half square) with the press-together seal at the top.

Now, I didn't exactly expect it to come in a diamond encrusted case or anything, but I would have thought it would have at least came in a wee box or something that I could wrap! Now, I need to find something to pop it into - so, any ideas ladies and gents?

I really dislike this Christmas lark - so much going on, and things like this just to P me off even more - - I haven't written any cards yet either!

    Bah Humbug!

If you don't have a small gift box spare (obviosly not), how about an Oxo/Bovril cube box nicely gift wapped (only a small piece needed ... even kitchen foil or brown paper)and ribboned with the anklet in a bit of tissue? I've made tree decorations out of these.

Small cardboard box made to correct size from cereal packet/pizza box/etc. [1], packaging, covered with printed decoupage of significant events and finished off with gift wrap ribbon, rubbing against a knife edge to create curly wurly ends.

[1] EDIT: or one of those more impressive boxes.

            Use a match box, simples

Or you could use a shoe box for the anklet chain

              Hi FC,

              H. Samuels ( jewellers ) sell nice boxes. Cheap as well only about a pound or two.

I popped into Ramsdens Pawn shop, and asked if they could let me have a small box, to put a small gift in (did not say it was jewellery) They gave me one free, just black plastic matchbox size with Gold design on top

Thank you all for some fantastic suggestions :) This is exactly why I love GC - the best members, bar none! :love30:

I am going to try and go with the jewellers/Amazon idea first (my local Hobbycraft is a nightmare to get parked etc at normal times, let alone at this time of year!), failing that I will fabricate something from card and some wrapping paper or something.

You are all just brilliant :)

I hope that you've learnt your lesson now and in future will return to buying from shops that gift wrap it for you as well :heehee:

@fat controller If all else fails then I can send you a little organza bag. Mrs Shiney has them for when she sells her jewellery :blue thumb: Just pick your colour.

I'd make a cardboard box and covering it in some nice wallpaper "samples" I used to pinch from homebase. Don't bother with B&q as they punch holes in their samples.

You can get box nets on the internet and print this out onto card.

@fat controller .....If you have the time you could make an egg decoration and hang it on the tree

All you need is a large hen/duck egg.... Put a pin hole top and bottom and blow the egg out then fill with water and wash it out. Leave to dry

Tap the bottom of the egg to just get the hole big enough to allow the bracelet into the egg.

Using a simple paste like wall paper paste or kids water based glue get a tissue and separate the sheets (loo roll works well) pinch a little bit out paint the hole area with the glue, stick the tissue to it and paint glue over the top to smooth it out . Let it dry.

Now you can paint and decorate the egg and hang it on the tree however you want.

Watch this video you don't have to decorate it to this extent but by using your imagination it's amazing what you can come up with.

Mrs FC then gets to crack the egg open to get her present :)
