I have loads of ferns in troughs but not specifically "dry" ones.I have various mixes. The latest two troughs have 25% sieved soil. 40%...
It seemed to last year so I'm going to do it again this year.
What I do with my troughs now, is to put a ring of ant powder around them. Kills the adults intent on climbing up the troughs to lay their eggs....
