A new one for me, Purple Hairstreak. As it wouldn't open up for me properly the purple doesn't show and the underwing is greyish brown.

Meadow Brown on Buddleia davidii, two Holly Blues (one on a conifer and another resting on a Lonicera fragrantissima), and a poor photo of a species I haven't seen before in my garden feeding from Eupatorium cannabinum. Is it a Small Copper? :dunno:

                      Yes, a Small Copper.

You're getting a good selection of butterflies in your garden! I have to keep visiting a few select locations around my village to occasionally see Small Coppers.

Thanks for verifying that! Yes, that's now 16 species recorded so far here, which is pretty good for a small suburban garden. :blue thumb: I think a lot of it is down to having plants like Hemp Agrimony and Sea Holly mature this year, attracting species with smaller mouth parts to come and drink. Lots more are far from established and grown from 9cm pot plants, so I expect to be up to 20+ species next Summer! :)
