20L bags of Westland GroSure seed and cutting compost are being sold for only 75p each at Tesco. The cheapest place for these was £3 at Wilko. Best ever price was 2 for £4 at Wilko.

They are stacked on pallets located in entrance foyers. I got a trolley load from a Tesco Extra this afternoon. I've been using this for seed sowing over the last couple of years and it's good stuff.

Bought another 5 today as I reckon good quality seed compost will never be this price again. I have previously been known to try and save a few pennies by half filling pots with cheap MPC and putting more expensive good quality seed compost on top, but @ 75p for 20L this is an unheard of 3.8p/L for seed compost when 125L of B&Q Verve MPC http://www.diy.com/rooms/verve-multi-purpose-compost-125l/38694_BQ.prd is 5p/L, although the latter is probably best for seeds such as peas, beans, etc., that will grow to a larger size in the pots/cells/etc they are sown in and need more nutrients such as found in MPC.

:gaah: back to our Tesco store this morning and found plenty of compost left but it was priced back up to £3!!!!!:yikes:, gutted, even did a price check, but alas it had changed, knew I should of got more yesterday

I suspect either a mistake or a very short offer period :biggrin:

Short term offer I suspect, although I expected them to sell the whole pallet off at that price before putting the price up. Not a mis-price as my store had the price displayed at 75p yesterday, and not store specific as I've seen pics of other stores with 75p signs.

              I'll check again tommorow.

EDIT: Had a look today (18/1)
and they have removed the 75p sign. I hope they are not engaging in what some would deem sharp practice by selling stuff cheap, then after word gets around, putting the price up and removing the sign to conceal the price hike.

That's what happened in our store Scrungee, there was though a tiny sign there almost hidden behind the pallet with £3 on, hence why I did the price check, thought the large 75p sign had just gone missing.

Glad I didn't fill my trolley assuming they were still at 75p otherwise I'd have looked a right plonker at the till :snork:

Ahhh well I'll keep an eye on just in case its dropped for a day again, I wish :heehee:
