Hi All. I have had my 2nd earlies under stairs ready to chit but just checked them and they are sprouting. Not sure what the next step to take is? They will be going in large containers as per normal.

I know it is too early to plant 2 nd earlies so do I just pull of the sprouts and leave them to chit or are they no good now and have to buy some new 2nd earlies.Had that horrible flu virus for 4 weeks so got all behind with jobs.

    Any guidance would be appreciated.

The sprout will be green...rub them off, then stand them in trays or egg boxes and put them somewhere in light that is frost free and not too warm.

If it is too dark or too warm the chits will become etiated and when you put them in the soil and bury, they will snap so your back at square one.

You want the chits to be short and stubby and dark in colour.

    Good luck..

    Steve...:)
