I've been keeping an idea on Gumtree for 2nd hand Greenhouses and this one has came up.

There is very little detail on the add and I don't know much about Greenhouses. Are they easy to dismantle? It it easy to get replacement glass, are the panes all generic size? Anything else I need to consider? I don't have the money to go brand new.

@Eden1 yes they are easy to dismantle although having the right tools helps and you may get the odd bolt that's a pain, (good idea to take photos before you dismantle and mark up inside with marker pen, it helps when re assembling) yes it's easy to get replacement glass (or polycarbonate but that's another story) i think most are generic sizes but you may come across oddments but any glazier can cut to size. I can guarantee your plants won't be bothered if it's brand new or not.

As Mazambo says, seized bolts are a pain, so it's worth having some tools to cut them off (I have a battery powered tool from Lidl that has some little cutting disks perfect for dodgy bolts.) And DONT do what I did which was dismantle my greenhouse and not label the bits of metal. Sticky labels and lots of photos!

I think this is the exact same greenhouse as the one I was looking at. Looks like a time consuming process and fiddly. Then it needs reassembled. :gaah:

Good news about the glass. I'm a bit on the clumsy side and there is no way I'll dismantle, transport and reassemble without breaking a few.

You may have to hire a van unless you have an estate or MPV. I got a bargain one off ebay a couple of years ago. I did a recce first to check access and a quick measure of the longest section, usually the roof bar.
I sprayed all the bolts with WD40 and most undid no problem, just one or two were seized. There is a knack to unclipping the glazing strips so take some close up photos of them and look on the internet for clues if it is not obvious how to get them off. Post a photo on here as well, there are a few different types and some one on here will know.
Two people are really needed plus an indelible marker to label everything.

They look like standard 2ft square pane of glass.
Keep the glass upright, don't lay it flat especially when transporting as it is more likely to crack. Best to wrap the glass several sheets together with cardboard or old blankets.
Take your time and good luck - its a bargain!

Also you don't need to completely dismantle everything, the door can be slid off and transported in one piece, same goes for the roof window.

                  Hi,

Memory not that good, but sure someone, possibly Eden1 ?? , who posted not long ago saying that buying standard 2x2 greenhouse glass was very difficult and expensive in NI and only available from a couple of outlets ??

With that particular greenhouse being screwed down onto the decking board, you will have to buy a proper metal base or make your own from well treated wood or concrete etc.

While £100 is not that bad, we were looking at some for a friend and you can find some in good condition for a lot less, though suppose you are in a limited market/area.

Does the price include the benches and any automatic vent openers ?

I gave one away, to someone who was prepared to dismantle and take away. I’d be looking at paying a bit less.

Make certain the panes of glass are stacked upright.

I'm going to pass on this one. Mainly because if I bought it I'd want to assemble it straightaway while its fresh in my head. My garden project's landscaping isn't far enough on for a greenhouse. Thanks for the advice everyone.
