Watched this over several days while we were on Barra.
I'm sure it's a diver but can anyone tell me what one. I'm pretty sure it isn't a black throated diver.

Thanks Sheal! When I first saw it a GND came to mind, but when I looked it up in our book I couldn't find a photo. We've a few books but son seems to have appropriated the best ones!!
Also saw and snapped a rock pipit - never seen one before.
BTW - There was a camper van from IOM on the campsite for a couple of days before heading north to the Uists and the full length of Harris and Lewis.
The Outer Hebrides are totally different from anything we've encountered before.

That is a good shot Dave:dbgrtmb:, there have been a few around the coast here in Winter but never near enough to get a pic. Yours is in full Summer plumage with the distinct white band on the throat and side of the neck.

Yes, you will find the island residents lurking here and there. We toured Norway with our car many years ago and pulled into a car park for the Flam railway only to spot another Manx car there. It's a small world! :)
