thanks you @Ellen @Val.. & @Fern4 :imphrt: yep Ellen the little finch is a Zebra Finch...Val is Spot on:thumbsup: i would also like to share pics of them too but....i made a boo boo when starting this thread:oopss: i meant to say "Birdies" instead of "Budgies" in the heading & once posted i don't seem to be able to change it again :dunno: i wasn't sure what to do so i just put the pics that had mainly budgies in @ARMANDII @Zigs @clueless1 ? would it be too much to ask for one of you guys tomaybe change the heading to "Pics of My Birdies" for me please, pretty please:sofa:it'd be very much appreciated :love30:

yep Val the pics were taken whilst the birdies were outside in the aviary, they can also go inside the shed that the aviary is attached to via a pop hole in the wall, this way they can be locked safely inside at night or during inclement weather

first pic was taken this May...i think it adds to the garden :imphrt:

& this pics was taken last year before it got a fresh coat of paint:thumbsup:

Very pretty birdies and a neat, welcoming garden, HB :dbgrtmb:

I had a budgie when I was growing up. Now I'm a grown up, I have ducks and chickens :heehee: (Food producers! Lush eggs) I agree the sight and sounds of birds in the garden certainly does "animate" it. Since Ozzy, I have to time when the birds can come out for a forage and feast but the ducks have their own patch in the copse end so free range all day long. It's wonderful watching them bobbing about and doing what comes naturally. If I didn't have them (or the space I enjoy for the time being) I'd be very tempted to go back to having pet birds of some description.

Thanks M, the sound of the birds twittering makes a lovely background noise in the garden which is great at drowning out general neighbourhood noises so you don't really notice people, lawnmowers, cars ect as much as you normally would...terrible when your trying to eaves drop though :rofllol: i think its safe to say i'll never be without them, i got my first aviary as a wee slip of a girl of 13 yrs....15 yrs later & i haven't had a single year without the little beauties :imphrt: i just love them :imphrt:
oh how i wish i had chickens & ducks :wub2:i've always wanted a couple of Silkies & it'll happen! really it will!...i just don't know when :dunno: they're supposedly not great egg layers cos of the broody-ness....but they're so fuzzy wuzzy & cute, so its ok:rofllol:

              a handful of baby budgies:wub2:

Silkies are cute, but, they are not the "quietest" of chooks either (that and the broodiness are there drawbacks: but, they are funny little characters all the same. Hmm, for cuteness without the noise ... have you considered Frizzles? ;) )

Those babies are equally cute and scary! :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

fab post , my mate kept budgies when I was a kid.

Can you keep canaries , I remember next door had one and looked like it had a wig on its head

Do you have to keep the shed heated over winter
