It was John, planning a Kayak trip next weekend if the sea conditions hold.

We drove to Bexington first but the beach was full. On the way back we saw a flock of fish about 2 miles in length, about 500 yards out. Stopped at Burton Bradstock but the same story, barbeques all over the beach.

So West Bay isn't that popular then? (I would have thought it was?)

Oh it is, poplier, but because people swim there, angling tends to happen further east under the dangerous cliff (wouldn't catch me under it, as a geologist, I know underneath the apex of an eroded anticline is not an ideal place to be!)

Sunset is the time to be there, the fish chase the baitfish into the corner where they jump out onto the beach to get away.

          Hey Melinda,

Yep, wearing crocs is preferable to being eaten by them. Essential for boat fishing, if you go overboard, you need to be able to kick footwear off.

            I hate crowded beaches.

I've only ever been to West Bex once of an evening in the summer and decided I'll never do that again. If down that way I'll go somewhere like the beach at Axemouth near the mouth of the river of evening.

There was only one car at West Bex when Mrs Scrungee & I got there at 3:00 am last Thursday (had a bit of a break whilst our daughter was away on Silver DoE in Wales), but it was starting to fill up by the time we left at 7:00 am.

This is our fishing spot on August Bank Holiday.
