Who, in their right mind is going to buy a 7 year old a powerful quad bike, then let her ride it on a public road in the dark? The woman driving the car has, apparently, been charged with drunk driving. The father should be charged with negligence. Another innocent life gone because of an idiot parent.

They live on a farm for goodness sake, why was she on the road at all? I agree she shouldn`t have had the thing in the first place, or her 10 year old brother, come to that.

    I thought exactly the same.

Aparently the father was driving ahead in his landrover, ironicly he would have been farr safer if he had been behind them or better still not alowing them to use public roads especialy in the dark.

The type of quad involved in the colision is not really desighned for road use has farr lighter suspension than on proper agricultural quads which can be driven at sensible road speeds and have road legal lights. Anyone using one of these 'toy' quads not redgisterd for higway use on the road is seriously bereft of a brain cell.

She would have been perfectly safe and could of had a lot of fun with it in the fields but certainly not on the road. I wonder if she had a helmet on.

Absolutely, she could have been better supervised on their property. Even though I still think she was too young for the damn thing in the first place.

We were going to buy a quad bike this year and decided it wasn't safe on the roads, although we are in the backwaters ... this was after we vetoed a motorbike! I'm a bit horrified to go out on the mountainbike on the roads ... okay in the orchards.

We are licensed drivers of 40 years plus and I think we know what we are doing ... so what would a child know?

    Back to irresponsible parents ...

Re Benazir Bhutto. A democratic Pakistan? Some people may not have agreed with this womans politics but is that any reason to kill her, for goodness sake. Don`t these people know that democracy is fought by the word not by the gun or the bomb. Even the IRA managed to work that out.

Lol, if you do go for a quad then go for an agricultural one ie suzuki king quad, honda foreman etc these are very safe and stable.

Daith, by ten or eleven as farmers children many will be driving 7.5 ton tractors!

Dont think the IRA worked that out David,...... I think we did.
As for Pakistan, she knew the risks, but I admire her for going back and taking them.
To many politacal opponents to foreign regimes stand in a safe place, (ie. Britain) and sling mud, and then when they find themselves up to their necks in plutonium poison, we're expected to do something about it.

Pete, the IRA came to the bargaining table because they wanted too, not because we told them they had too.
