A plant amongst the wood anemones

    I saw this flower (in managed beech-tree woodland, if that helps), amongst great swathes of wood anemones (Anemone amorosa). In the photo you can see, bottom right, a “normal” wood anemone flower and leaf, for comparison and scale.

    any ideas?

    anemone sylvestris, maybe?

      We need it to turn around and show us it's face, Sian! A. sylvestris has 5 sepals, though, and so do A. rivularis, and A. canadensis, so they're unlikely. Those sepals/petals are also more pointed than the other species. A mystery to solve! :biggrin:

        Leaves look almost succulent...interesting margins

        2nd pic doesn't show the leaves seen in 1st pic.
        2nd pic doesn't help...sorry.
