Just recently we have found some strange poo on the back lawn. This morning there was one just outside the back door complete with 3 plum or greengage stones. It's very pointed. Picture shows the 3 bits, with a pencil for scale. Doesn't look like cat but cat size. Could it be a fox? Badger? Magpie/crow? Pole cat?

    Thanks for any suggestions

Foxes eat Plums, but their poo is normally darker and it's extremely pungent - have you sniffed it?

I haven't! But I didn't notice a smell when I investigated the stones and put the pencil by it. It has rained heavily overnight though so may have dispersed it.

I would say fox. Usually smelly when fresh but with the rain the smell may have dissipated. Shape is fox, badger is much bigger, ruminants are usually small pellets and quite often shiny, cats rarely, if ever, eat fruit.

Looks like hedgehog to me - smallish individual ones (sorry... too much information?) It would be great if you find you have hedgehogs!

Nah, fox all day long. Get a humane trap, trap it, lob it in the boot of your car and drive it well away - 20 miles at least, and then release it.

PS - that was the fox, and not the poo I was suggesting to drive miles away......

I see similar in my back garden. We have quite a few foxes, but sometimes their poo is as light as this. Depends what they get to eat. Not always that awful smell either.:poo:
