Please can anybody tell me the name of this (rambling) rose? It has been growing in our garden for years and just cannot remember what it is called.

Jjordie, does it flower right through or only for 3 or 4 weeks around June?
Does it have any scent, medium scent or strong scent?
Is it a Single, semi double or full double difficult to tell from a bud, but looks semi double.
    Height?
Can you post a pic of the flower full open?
roders, looks a bit pale for Compassion which also does tend to have a salmon pink tinge, leaves look about right though.

Roders - think it looks a bit pale to be Compassion - could be wrong though.

DM - we had roses right into November last year - but then weather was very mild wasn't it.
O/h keeps it well pruned so couldn't say how big it would grow. It has a lovely medium scent and I would say it is semi-double.
That photo was taken last summer this year's buds are not open yet but I will post a pic later - shouldn't be too long before they open as it's very warm here at the moment!!!

Hi JJ, that should help narrow it down a bit, I'll have a trawl through the various sites later.

DM - great pics on that site, thankyou for that link, and Woo, if you have New Dawn and Compassion then you'll know the difference.
I think I will agree that it is New Dawn.
My favourite rose and it has such a lovely perfume. I read somewhere when I was googling information that it smells like sweet apples and I would almost agree with that.
Would you agree with that Woo?

Hi JJ, another rose search site is click here

David Austin roses has the best search facility in that you can enter more than one criteria in your search, so instead fo seeing every white rose, you can specify the type, like climber, bush, old rose etc, plus select single, semi double or double flower but limited to what they stock (quite a lot though)

Peter Beales roses is the other I frequently use

Again limited by what they stock.
