:headache: Had enough of this woman talking about berries. She just showed everyone how to kill and main hedgehogs with her stupid soft netting- all left in a bunch at the end of the bed so the poor creatures can get tangled up in it.

The above two posts were appertaining to a Rose programme on BBC 2 this morning that I was watching called "The A to Z of Gardening"

Good morning these 2 posts were originally posted in the Rose Forum and I thought they were so important that I decided to move them to their own thread in to this forum,

If anyone finds small hedgehogs out and about now at this time of year, they need to be taken to a rescue centre. Please check bonfires before you burn. Sleeping hedgehogs will NOT wake up and move out in time - once they have gone to sleep for the winter - they sleep, and PLEASE reconsider using plastic (or any other) netting. Is it really worth it??

              :goodpost: Tetters.

Also, if providing food for the hogs its important to keep food and water available all winter. Hogs do wake sometimes during hibernation and come looking for a snack. Dry food such as kitten biscuits placed under cover ( feeding station ) is best to leave out as wet goes off quickly. Biscuits need changing every other day as can pick up mould once damp. Freezing of water can be prevented by adding a drop of glycerine or tiny amount of salt.
