      From the beeb:

      There are differences between the two sides on fisheries, competition rules, police co-operation, and how a deal would be enforced.

      That's right Barney - it's not going to change - the UK position is clear:

      - you can't have unfettered access to our fishing waters - we need to rebuild and protect the UK fishing industry;

      - there won't be a 'level playing field' - our elected Parliament will make decisions which promote and protect UK industry - if we want to provide state aid to make our companies more competitive - then we shall do so;

      - we will not be dictated to by the ECJ - UK judges will interpret the law and make decisions which will be final;

      - if we want to change or introduce new UK laws - which differ from those of the EU - we will do so without reference to the EU.

      We're leaving at the end of 2020 - accept it and move on.

        If any of us Coarse Fishermen catch them in the lakes and ponds there's a loud "crunch" afterwards!

        In a sign the EU does not have plans to back down from some of its key demands, he (Barney) added: "In the next round, we must make tangible progress across all areas, including level-playing field and governance."

        Looks like we will be going WTO then - the EU have no intention of being flexible.

        End of June - we really should walk away from the negotiations and put all our effort into a smooth WTO transition.

          Not as if everyone hasn't been clear so I hope there's no shock when it happens. Even Herr Starmer agrees there should be no extension, although that is a moot point I suppose if we terminate dialogue early.

            Well, I'm going to buy a new shed this morning. I will be purchasing it from Waltons - because the shed has been made in the UK. I wonder what Barney would say?

                Saw him at a press conference last night - he looked like he was about to blow his top - a massive vein throbbing on his rosy red forehead.

                He doesn't like Frosties 'tone' at the negotiation table apparently - that's right Barney - change of negotiating team - one that stands up for the UK and understands why we voted for Brexit - don't like it do you?

                  From what I can see, the eu refuses to change its stance so why he's getting upset when we reciprocate is beyond me.

                      Are the trade talks just in Brussels, or co-hosted by the UK?

                      If other countries follow the UK and France with 14 day quarantine periods, will negotiators have to travel 14 days before talks commence, and allow a further 14 days when they get back home?

                        EU negotiators have the same "pass" as do other people classed as "essential workers" such as lorry drivers travelling to and from Europe bringing food and other goods into and out of the UK.
                        They also have residences in Strasbourg and Brussels to enable them to carry on negotiating for long periods.:dunno::cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

                          Come on Barney - do you really want to cut your nose off to spite your face?

                          "Before Brexit, Britain was the EU's largest customer, ahead even of the US and China.

                          "Britain bought more from the EU than the EU bought from Britain. Like any company, the EU will severely suffer by losing its largest customer."

                          Even taking into account the rebate negotiated by former UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in 1984, Britain had remained the second-largest net contributor to the EU budget after Germany."

                              Well, 4th round of negotiations to start next Monday - concluded on the Friday. We should know the results fairly quickly when Barney stands up on the press podium - just by looking at how red his face is.

                              Come on Frostie :blue thumb:.
