Never grown them before but sowed some seeds last year after being kindly sent some. They aren't that big yet so I'm not sure what to do with them. I have read that they are at their happiest when their roots are constrained.
Does this mean that they are best grown in pots?
Have also read conflicting advice about their hardiness too.

Just nipped out and took these pics.....what should I now do with them please.

Dammit, I was still trying to think of a witty Cerastium tomentosum response.

Reputedly agapanthus are best with roots restrained but I’m not so convinced. Nutrients and water are also restricted so these need to be generously added I think
The best agapanthus I grew were in open ground where flowering was reliable and prolific.
Agapanthus can be seen everywhere down here...fields full of them. Left alone in a sunny position and in poorish soil they seem to thrive
In pots I think agapanthus are best if reported before roots are too congested :)
So Upsy, I would grow those plants repotting regularly to develop good strong growth and not worry about flowers for a year or two:)

The old pot bound thing is about starving something in order to get it to flower earlier, it often works but the plant isn't thriving.
I grow agapanthus in the ground, it might take a couple of years to flower, but it will be all the better for it, when it does.

Should add only the ones that die down in winter are considered hardy.

Thanks @Verdun , I should just keep potting on for how long do you think..another year roughly? How big should they be before they can be planted out?

Thanks @pete , my seedlings kept all their leaves throughout the winter so I guess they're not hardy then. Will I need to store them somewhere warm or would my unheated greenhouse or even cold frames be OK. Then what...just keep them ticking over with a drop of water every now and then?

Do you know what species they are, or are they hybrid seed?
Evergreen ones are not hardy as far as I know, only ever grown the ones that die down in winter.
Must admit, you are pretty adventurous growing from seed.

No ,a friend sent me some seeds that she'd collected. No info on them was given. Why am I being adventurous, what have I let myself in for ..are they going to be difficult to grow?

No just that it takes a long time from seed sowing to flowering.;)
But you might get some surprises.
