I thought I would put a couple of pics up of this as it is an unusual variety of Albizia julibrizin. It is only 8 months old and the best colour of the four I have, they are supposed to turn completely bronze when about 3 ft high. I think I will chance them outside when they reach that height but only for the summer. The flowers are the same colour as the type.

Also the Albizia/Acacia that I posted recently that some of us had grown before but none of us could ID has seed pods, I don't know if anyone elses did. I hand pollenated them as unlike Caesalpinias the stamen was not visible so I brushed the flowers together and hoped something would happen, it obviously did. Whether they ripen or not i'll have to wait and see.

The bronze colour looks unusual strongy, I have seen a reddish tint on mine in mid summer, but that takes it a stage further.
Maybe just by growing outside the colour might become stronger.
Wouldn't mind a couple of seed from that acacia, if they make it. [IMG] [IMG]

I saw it(the Acacia) growing everywhere in Turkey and Northern Cyprus with ripe seed pods but never thought to bring any back as I thought the flower was not as eye catching as others. [IMG]

They look beautiful, Strongy! But they're likely to be pretty big, aren't they? The Albizia being that size at 8 months - well!!

The flower of that acacia may not be all that special, but if its the one I'm thinking of, the foliage is better than an albizia, excepting your chocolate ones of course [IMG]

I think I will bring them inside as it might get too cool to ripen.
There ae a few pics of Summer Choc on goolge mainly in sub tropical areas so the colour may be more intense there. There are some more seeds offered on ebay from France but I'll make do with what I have. [IMG]
