    Hi,

I'm Ali, I study horticulture online with RHS, also the co-founder of community group 'Give it a grow Wigan' aswell as working full time at Bents garden centre.
Recently I've been considering becoming a self employed gardener.
I thought before that I'd reach out to the gardening community for some guidance and experience.
Looking forward to connecting with you all for some good chats.
    Thanks
    Ali

Hi Ali and Welcome to the Forum,

Your question has been asked a few times and if you search on "starting a gardening business" or similar terms you will come across similar questions and answers.
One of the important points is what do you do for quiet months of the gardening year ?

The key to such self employment is really down to who you have to support as income can be very variable depending on the success of your business; without depressing you, do be aware that a high percentage of small businesses fail in the first year or so, so you do need a financial reserve just in case the worst happens.

Much better to test the water by doing small jobs in your free time while still receiving a steady income from your employer.

        Welcome to the forum Ali.

Would your employer let you go part time? Then you can test the water and still have an income whilst you build up your client base. I would recommend you waiting till the spring.

Welcome to the forum @LittleWildlifeGardener aka Ali.

You'll find that many of the members on here can give you a lot of advice as to the aims of your little group.

Hope things go well with your plot in Mesnes Park. A good place, as many are unaware that it was one of the first land reclamation sites in the UK.
