I'm tempted to open an account and order some goods using this website. Apparently it's similar to e-bay and PayPal is accepted. Has anyone used Aliexpress - if so what has been your experience?
Never used them clanless, but looked on it a few times as it's so cheap. The reason for that is it's only stuff direct from China, hence delivery times will be long. You may not be protected by the distance selling regs or whatever they are called now.
Aliexpress is a subsite of Alibaba owned by Jack Ma the richest man in China. I have ordered a few thing from China on Ebay without a problem . These have only been cheap items , less than a fiver, and never had to return anything , which could be a problem.
Thanks for replies - I take some comfort from the fact that I will be using Paypal - so no financial details will be shared. I'm quite impressed with the 'copy' parts that I can buy on there for my car. I could buy an entire copy indicator stalk or switches for the electric windows - which would cost much more 2nd hand or OE. I also noticed that there are some chinese based suppliers on ebay who charge far more than Aliexpress for the same goods - albeit less than other UK based suppliers.
Well, just signed up and placed the order. 30 to 40 days for delivery - there is an additional charge for using Paypal - so ended up paying £5.64 from Aliexpress. The same item is £17.99 from a UK seller or £13.99 from a chinese e-bay seller. Aliexpress is very similar to e-bay - buyer protection, feeback etc. If there's no rush for the item - then it looks to be the 'go to' place.
Will do . I've just checked and the item has cleared export customs and is winging its way in this direction. A friend has told me that the supplier does not get any money until the goods are confirmed as delivered - he has used Aliexpress before.
Hi @clanless I like amazon and I joined the prime on there and I noticed foreign sellers let amazon store their goods and coming direct from amazon with prime..you have no trouble if things need sending back
The item arrived in the UK this morning - if it's delivered pronto - e-bay may well be my second choice electronic market place. The order was placed last Friday - so it's only been 6 days so far - some e-bay UK based sellers have taken longer
It plopped through the letter box today - looks fine to me - placed the order last Friday and arrived this Friday - that's what I call rapid . So far, so good .
I placed another order with Aliexpress - 2 days ago - the item is currently in the cargo hold of a plane flying over to the UK. Same price difference as before - £8 against £22 - for some reason the delivery time is quoted as 20 - 40 days - but in reality they are a couple of days shy of matching e-bay for speed of delivery . If you've been thinking of using Aliexpress - go for it and save yourself a few quid.
