Just been looking thru stuff to sell.

Got one book from 1745, admittedly its front cover needs putting back on, its got a raised leather spine & 2 of the 3 maps still intact.

Nearest I could find to it on the net was an american one a few years diffferent. That one was signed by a famous american though.

That one was for sale at nearly £10,000:OUCH:

You should check with an auction house which is into that sort of things.

Found a few that are worth a bit, well, The Songs of Lady Nairne would have been £26, IF the mice hadn't nibbled the spine:DOH: Contains such delights as "We're a noddin, a nid nid noddin, noddin in our house, in our house at hame" (and thats from memory:heehee:)

The other one is going for £50-60

This one seems to average about £65.

Any offers before I loose money by selling to a dealer?

Ziggy, why not list the on Ebay as a Buy-it-Now with a price a bit above what you would take and add the 'Best Offer' option. The listing fee is modest, and even if they don't sell quickly you will get a pretty good idea of their interest value by checking the number of 'hits' on the listing.

        a-a

p.s. Are these the books you had at school when you were a lad....(!!!)

That's Vol 3, and here's a UK dealer selling Vol 2 for £350. Might be interesting to see what they say if you contact them - An Universal History from the Earliest Account of Time to the Present - Volume 2 : Printed for E. Symon in Cornhill Etc., London Full Calf, - Valuable Volumes

P.S. My Father in Law has signed first editions of John Seymour's and Sir Peter Scotts's books as he knew both of them - wonder what they're worth?

As with everything else Zig, a book is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it.:dbgrtmb:

It was my Father in Law, not me:

I do covet those books though.
