Foxglove included for scale although the largest ‘bit’ is much bigger than it appears, about 9/10 inches. Smaller amounts are close by. It has appeared at the side of my pond, my initial thoughts are a thirsty fox but it seems to big:noidea: We live in a town not rural. It’s very sloppy but then again it’s been raining since yesterday. When I first saw it I thought something had been disembowelled! Any ideas?

Looks like fox mess to me. Sometimes it can be jelly like if eaten something that’s upset them

I think I've seen something similar from dogs when they have gut problems.

So yes, quite likely a fox.

It's slime mould. A fungus lookalike that appears after excessive rain. It'll shrivel up and disappear of it's own accord once the weather warms up/ dries out. There's a species called dog-vomit

I didn't think we had had any excessive rain.

Perhaps the OP has had in Middlesborough? I stand by my ID. It's all over the place here at the moment, after 30mm in 36 hours ;):)
