We have fairly hefty hedges here which are hard work to trim. Daughter does a great job of cutting them and doing a fair amount of strimming as well.
It's hot work and the glasses she wears (made for cycling) steam up and also don't stop bits of grass etc getting into her eyes. She has absolutely no desire to wear a hat with visor attachment as that will make her even hotter.
Is there some kind of visor you can buy which won't steam up and would give better eye protection than the perspex? glasses she currently uses.

I would also love to know this, I also wear glasses have a -8 prescription in one eye and -6 in the other. I always struggle with hedge trimming and chainsaws finding good eye protection.

For hedge trimming i sometimes just use safety glasses but they do not form a good seal against the face but do allow the eyes to breath. With the chainsaw I use rubber goggles as the small chippings I don't want to risk going in round the edge of safety glasses. However with goggles they mist up very quickly.

Any recommendations for people who need to wear glasses as well would be greatly appreciated.

I am very short sighted and for work I use prescription safety glasses, as these are regularly replaced the old pair get recycled to my garden shed.
I also have a mesh type visor on a headband of the type Jiffy shows above, this works well.
From painful experience would recommend wearing eye protection whenever working with or next to bamboo as the leaf tips are very sharp; scratched cornea is eye wateringly painful.
@silu Amazon sell that style https://www.amazon.co.uk/Silverline...8&qid=1503578487&sr=8-3&keywords=safety+visor

@NigelJ Thanks, that looks useful. I will have a think about prescription safety glasses, pity glasses direct don't sell them.

There is a very old trick to stop visors and glasses misting up. Simply smear some non-lathering liquid soap on the lenses. If I remember correctly, back when I lived in the UK, I used something called 1001. Dont know if it still exists though.

Just ordered the mesh visor which will remove the steaming up problem. Not expensive and look as though it will do the job nicely. Many thanks, daughter does a good deal of chainsawing too so will suggest (yell at her!) that she wears the visor when operating potentially dangerous tools. i bought her a pair of special trousers to wear when chainsaw wood and will she wear the damn things?...no:mute:. Hope you get sorted too @Quentin Jackson

Yes 1001 still exists, however, the last lot I bought was in a foam aerosol form not just liquid as it used to be. I have long haired cats which =s fur balls which =s upchucks which =s carpet cleaner:) therefore quite a lot of 1001 is bought. Do you remember the song on the 1001 advert on the TV (showing my age:)) "1001 cleans a big big carpet for less than 1/2 a crown, for less than 1/2 a crown"...Jeeees how sad am 1 to remember this:snorky:

I have used a very small amount of washing up liquid on the inside of my kitchen windows to stop them steaming up, not tried it on glasses though; can't see a problem.
