Those brugs are good value Bilbo. Theyre a lot cheaper than the cuttings you get on ebay. That bergische symphony is gorgeous. Thanks for the link :)

Thanks Bilbo - those prices are brilliant. As long as the plant is healthy the size doesn't matter - they grow so fast. Is there a catch - they just seem too cheap?

Hi Peter, not had anything from them before, just came across their site while browsing info on a fuchsia, there are testamonials on the site and everything seems ok, but the 'proof's in the pudding', at those prices I may order one to see what you get

Reading this part of the website; http://www.otherfellow.co.uk/About_us.php it seems they are just a couple of keen gardeners selling from home rather than a large commercial affair, which as they say is how they keep the costs down :)

The Fuchsia prices are good too, for anyone after some specific varieties.

Great find Bilbo. I nearly ordered some Brugs but I've got enough to overwinter right now so maybe I'll wait till next spring.

Have just ordered some now. Will let you know what happens.

I had no idea how I was going to overwinter all my brugs before hand - so a few more won't make any difference. :heehee:

Can't remember if I mentioned this, but talking to Alan Grey at East Ruston recently he said he only grows the same "boring" Brugs now. He keeps trying fancy ones, but in his opinion they flower late, are attacked by more bugs etc, and are more "fragile". Of the plain-Jane ones he has found that the yellow ones flower earliest, longest, and most. Stupidly I forgot to ask him what variety they were. As in previous seasons his yellow ones looked amazing, and he did have a few fancy ones which looked almost as rubbish as mine ...

I have half a dozen pain single whites & pinks that I grew from seed, and half a dozen fancy-pants ones. The plain ones have flowered all season, the fancy ones have been very hit and miss ... so I'm rather inclined to try to get a plain yellow one for comparison next year and go from there.

For the "mature" ones: "long cuttings" maybe ?

Kristen - thats very interesting. I have always wondered if that was the case - especially with regard to doubles. The blooms look wonderful - but at what price.

I must admit that the best one that I have is a noname yellow that flowers prodigiously. However I prefer the colour pink/ apricot so am happy to try others. But it may be that my seed grown ones will be the best other-colours, in the long run.

Does anyone have any idea how long they live? ie do you have to keep renewing them or can you prune and keep the same plant for ages?

PeterS , back in Italy there was a really thick plant must havebeen there for about 20 years as it was really thick , but no more then 3/3.5 mt high , a simple white brugs .

Last sunday I was at Will giles garden in Norwich , he had some really big plants in there , this one in the picture was about 7/8 feet not a clear picture , but my question to one of the guy was how do they overwintering them , his answer was , there is lots of wrapping , but most of all lots of pots lifting .
