Is it just me or is anyone else getting ready for next years seed sowing ?

I start looking for seed which leads to me accidently buying more than I planned.

I have my tomato and chilli seed from last year, along with ipomoea lobata and ptilotus exaltus joey

I wanted coleus seed which has ended being ordered along with cucumber, aubergine, amaranthus, ricunus, gaillardia, malope trifida vulcan, sweet pepper, cleome, solanum pyracanthum oh... and another chilli pepper seed (just in case mine don't germinate )

I did say that I wasn't going to grow as much next year but it seems that I'm already failing miserably.

Anyone else as weak willed when it comes to ordering seed ?

Yup, just ordered a collection of Sweet Pea seeds today from Kings Seeds, such a good selection and low prices and only £1.60 postage on seed purchases. :)

Used to sow the more delicate plants like Toms under heat quiet early but these days find its better to sow late March when there is more light to produce less leggy plants which seems to create more fruiting trusses.

Yes, I've ordered seeds from two companies. Atlas carrots, various zinnias from the U.S. , Kelsae onion, begonia and some kind of tall grass* from a Quebec company and some carnivorous plant seeds from a company called Little Green Monsters which is in my province.

I have loads of collected seeds and my hot pepper seeds/chillies are in soil blocks now and hopefully will germinate within the next few weeks. :)

I still have one more catalogue to arrive and I'll probably see something else I can't resist.

And then, you know, those seed packets at the stores. Always one or two I can't leave behind

*not Pampas - I found out, on Christmas day, whilst discussing what to order, that Pampas, along with any star shaped decoration is an indicator of "swinger" households.. :yikes:

I dont grow nearly as much as I used to, years ago, from seed.

But I do remember spending the whole winter going through seed catalogues, I didn't have internet then, and sending off my orders.
          It was so interesting then.

Not sure why, but I dont feel that anymore.

I'm ordering the bulk of mine from Kings Seeds with a discount via the Allotment Society. I had made a list as soon as the catalogue came, have been steadily adding to it the last week when I had a bit of time on my hands. Should have posted the order straight away, it's hard to resist.

Me. I probably wont be ordering seed. I no longer grow veg, my garden is small, and I only seem to get visits from friends?????? when plants are available. Cutting back on all of it. The odd tray of plants from the garden center will do. I always practice my surgical on any purchased plant.

Now Sir. Short back and side, and a shve. Yes Sir. Sweeny todd is here to serve you. OOOooops!

Ive never had any luck with carnivorous plants from seed.

On pampas grass. There was a huge one at the end of our drive which I dug out last year. The house was built in 1970 and the décor was similar to that seen in films for 'adult education' so it wouldn't surprise me if the grass was put there for this purpose.

The internet has made selecting suppliers easy and the level of research needed to determine where to buy from, conditions for the plant etc. has reduced.

Probably for another thread but the internet has impacted membership of plant societies. Where these were the place to go for information, there are now 'experts' all over forums, facebook and youtube where you can get the information

Yes in some ways the internet has made things easier but at same time made exploring different plants to grow slightly less exciting.
Only sarracenia seed that has worked for me has been when I saved my own seed.
