I have a Astilbe in a container in a shadey position . The leaves appear to be dieing back in early September . Is this the correct time or do I have a deeper problem ?
    TIA

    Hi Harry,

I'm only guessing here as it's a long time since I grew Astilbes but could it have dried out ?

When I grew them , I did so in a trough which was kept permanently damp with about an inch of water above the soil level.

They are really pond-side marginal plants.

If you have it on a container on it's own it may be worth giving it a good soaking and see what happens.

    Good Luck :)

Cheers @Anthony Rogers , I think I have kept it well watered and in a semi shade spot . I'll keep half an eye on it , not much I can do really. Never knew it was a pond side plant - might give me an idea ! :ideaIPB:

They do tend to finish earlier than other plants Harry. I have been cutting them down for clients for the past fortnight.

Thanks @daitheplant , it may just be in its normal life cycle.
