I have just moved house and acquired a greenhouse complete with automatic window openers. They are the sort with a rod which you twist to adjust the temperature at which the window opens. Does anyone knows which way to turn the rod to increase the temperature in the greenhouse, as at the moment the windows open when it isn't actually that warm. :help:
    Thanks

    I'm pretty sure it's anti-clockwise.
To check all you need to do is turn it a few turns when the windows are part open and watch what way they move.

I'd say anti-clockwise as well, I think with this sort you need to shorten the rod to increase the temp at which it opens.

    .

    Hi!

Mine is anti clockwise, I checked today.

Also on the instructions it says to dismantle and replace with normal opening rods each Autumn which I have done for some years now, and replace the following spring.

Bit of a nuisance, but I don't lose any heat when I don't want too!

    Cheers!:gnthb:

Greenchilli, those are Ok I find, but I prefer these http://www.baylissautovents.co.uk/?gclid=CIy0qseB_qUCFQ1O4QodOHu_ow

I find with the others the cylinder being black absorbs heat very quickly so opening the vent well before it should, with the Bayliss ones the cylinder is silver so takes longer to heat up.
The cylinder is also in the air flow from the vent so reacts faster to temperature change.

Also the cylinder does not drop down when the vent opens which means in restricted head room its not a problem
