Virginia creeper at the back of the house. It has turned from green to auburn and is now turning to the classic crimson colour . VC only come into leaf quite late and by October the leaves will have coloured and blown away in the Autumn winds , but it is an absolutely stunning climber :dbgrtmb:

@HarryS your VC is gorgeous! Is it growing in a big pot or have you planted it in the ground?

Fern ,I planted it in a hole I dug next to the wall about 6 years ago and it took straight away . It gave a good show from year one , where it grew to just over 6 feet . It now stretches 40 feet right to the top of the house :dbgrtmb: I tried planting clematis in holes along the same wall and they failed , so I now have them in a container. Not sure if VC can prosper in a container.

I planted one in a container 2 years ago in my copse end (it really is such a lovely vine, I even created a Haiku for a my GCSE equivalents 6 years ago :heehee: ) and it is doing as well as the one I planted in the earth in the main garden. I had one in my old house which I trained up a pergola and it was gorgeous for Autumn colour.

Having said that though, I'm re-thinking the potted version as there really is no reason it shouldn't go in the ground.
