For some reason I'm craving banananas and ginger together. Possibly pineapple too.

I have these things in the house.

    Any ideas?

I wondered if its possible to make a sort of ginger caramel, and coat bananana pieces with it? Or something else?

Sounds as if your anti-biotics are depleting you a bit. A fruit and ginger smoothie might be the answer.

Here's what I did (and it literally only took a few minutes).

I finely chopped a nana. Then I chucked a tablespoon of butter, two of sugar, and a couple of level tablespoons of water (well you can't have a heaped tablespoon of water can you) into a sauce pan, along with about a cubic inch of finely chopped ginger root, and melted it all down and kept stirring it til it looked like caramel. Then in went the chopped up nana, and I just kept it moving for a few seconds to get a good coating on the nana pieces.

Dished it up into 3 bowls (didn't want to risk it on the tiny lad, so some each for me, wife and big lad).

CL1,1 didn't like it one bit. I think because the ginger was too string.
Wife hasn't tried it yet because she's busy feeding tiny lad.
I loved it. It was absolutely delicious. I'll definitely be making that again. It was a tiny bit sickly so couldn't eat it in any quantity, but I reckon it would go lovely with a bit of ice cream.

Wife didn't like it either, so with 2 out of 3 of us finding it horrible, I'm wondering if it might actually be horrible but I enjoyed because my tastes buds have gone mad, or my body is screaming out for whatever vitamins, minerals or compounds happen to exist in that combination.

I'll still give it a go and then if it's horrible I know who to blame:biggrin:

If you have a garlic press maybe you could roughly chop the ginger and squeeze the juice out of it next time discarding the pulp. Not sure whether I would use the juice on the nanas (as a marinade) or add it to the syrup though.
