    From my local Nurseryman.
    15 Polyanthus for £5.
Even with my Cack-handed technique 2 pots full and 5 for the garden must be good value:dbgrtmb:

I found an interesting one the other day for Thames Water customers - for a while now you have been able to get rather naff free things from this link: https://www.thameswater-savewatersavemoney.co.uk/index.php/freepack but there is an option on there for water-retentive gell which might be useful, so I added some & clicked on the order link, but got distracted before filling in the details. Later in the day went back to the original link & added it again & ended up with two lots in the basket.. I expect if you did that too much they might notice, but I submitted my order for two lots last week & it turned up today. Cant tell if I got away with it or not 'cos they have sent me four packs of gell...

        We always do.
My wife even takes tubes of hand cream along occasionally. The poor Nurseryman suffers badly with his hands from all that pricking out and potting on.
The odd extra bargain returns the favour - you wouldn't get that in your local supermarket.

          Good on you!

From your post on another thread.............

"The trouble LongK is that what used to be Nurseries are often now converted to Garden Centres and, as a result, are often well stocked with ridiculously priced Barbour Jackets, Jumpers, Bric-a-brac etc. The plants seem to take a back seat and are often not looked after. As a result they are compared with Supermarket stocks which are cheaper.
A GOOD Nursery like the one I use, needs you to travel a few miles (in my case its only about 8 miles) but is WELL WORTH IT. His prices are not disimilar to the supermarket and the plants are not forced, hence they grow better."

I couldn't agree more! Got one just up the road and it's hard for them - they now do mainly annual bedding plants in order to keep afloat. Another one ten miles away is in a similar situation However, he has more space so the outdoor area is turned over to more unusual hardy plants or the less common borderline hardy plants. Last year he supplied a lot of local pubs with hanging baskets for free, filled with less common annuals. Best move he made in years he said and bought in lots of trade. Downside is that when he's busy with retail punters the other work is not getting done, so it led to a lot of late nights for him and his wife. But it allows him to indulge in his real passion - tropical and sub-tropical plants.
