bay tree

    Hi all
    question 2 from me , i have a 6ft bay tree in my garden i realy like but not where it is now as i have altered garden , can i move it ? , dont want to risk losing it but it is the middle of my lawn now !

    Could be a lot of work but you should be able to move it but take as much of the rootball as possible and water in very well. Might also help if you prune it too. Bays can get enormous so make sure you really like it before the move!

    Thanks Loofa , its not grown much in 4 years , dont know if thats normal , but its a lovely looking tree , is this a good time to move or is there a better time ?

    It's evergreen so anytime will have its perils; now is as good a choice as any and don;t worry if some of the leaves fall off, its normal and it will recover as long as you keep it watered ovre the first year

    i moved it end of March and it seemed ok but now it dont look so good , bark peeling a bit , some leaves going brown and generally dont look happy , any ideas ?

    Yep, sounds like a small growth spurt. The change in weather from dry and hot to really wet would also explain the bark.
