I like beechgrove a lot, probably overall better than gardeners world as it deals with more the basics of what I could be capable of.

Never really got into the Beechgrove vibe to be honest :dunno: I've tried a few times but failed to get beyond the first few minutes

I'll try and give it a more sustained "go" this time around and see if it will grow on me :fingers crossed:

I really like this programme. I have only seen it a few times but could tell that it is more informative than GW. I wonder if they would consider showing it prime time instead of early morning?

I can't warm to it either but I'll probably still record it like I do all garden shows and run certain parts on :)

If you want to watch it prime time on the iplayer website, you can change your location at the bottom left to Scotland, you will then see the scottish iplayer schedule and then should be able to watch it at 7pm next Thursday on the iplayer website

                    Thanks Steve :)

I was starting to get a bit worried ut hsd gone to the BBC scrapheap.
A proper gardening show with proper gardeners.

@WeeTam , I agree. I think Jim is one of the best presenters around.

Met Carol Baxter nearly 20 years ago. Really nice and completely down to earth. Hope they will have things to show you on the programme as up here (I live about 1 1/2 hours south of where Beechgrove is) it has been such hellish weather with a cold east wind which goes straight through you nothing much is growing. My garden is at least a month behind normal and I will not even be cutting the grass for some time yet. Worst/longest winter we have had since moving here 16 years ago and Aberdeen has not fared any better:frown:

I too like Beechgrove Garden, they explain the basics which is always good to be reminded and also not so basic techniques. I remember in the last series they explained how to air layer a Fig if I am not mistaken with what looked like a tennis ball sized contraption. I found this of real interest as I was reading you can air layer walnut trees. I have a walnut broadview which I am thinking of experimenting on.

That's interesting. I had no idea you could do that.

Monty is getting on my nerves a bit banging on about plastic every five minutes. Surely if you have lots of plastic pots it would be better to keep using them rather than change to other materials.

Got to be commonsense Outlander.....I intend to use plastic pots and materials for as long as they are functional here. True recycling after all:noidea:
BG? Enjoy it but more so because it is such easy friendly watching.....not sure I learn an awful lot from any garden programmes; more inspirational and relaxing I think:). I record it on Radio Scotland despite being in the opposite end of the country

I used to listen to R4's Gardeners' question time up until Bob Flowerpot and that Irish guy turned it into a radio comedy. I found the panel's answers too varied.

I often watch it on Sunday mornings, I think I said this once before but I like it because it comes across like the old gardening programmes used to, a bit basic maybe in some of the things they do.
But you do get the chance to sit there and disagree, not that I do that kind of thing of course;)

Its pretty down to earth, trouble with Gardeners world is it goes off into fantasy land a lot of the time, with that silly Joe swift bloke waffling on about is likes and dislikes.:frown:
Monty saying you cant grow red flowers next to yellow ones etc.:frown:
The GW crew do come over a bit arty farty.
