    Very interesting, but there were a couple of points that I'm not convinced about.

    They suggest an egg cup for holding this mix. Surely the last thing the bees want is something deep enough to fall into and drown.

    Also, such a sweet sugary mix will not only be attractive to bees, I reckon it would be more attractive to wasps.

    Also the sugar might give the bees the rush they need to continue working, but what about the protein they gather for the young? As far as I know this only comes from pollen.

    Rather than putting sugar out, I think I'll stick with the buddleja and golden rod, both of which are very popular with the bees and seem to keep them happy, without attracting too much attention from the less pleasant beasties.
