Hi all my mum has a bird of paradise and has had it for 10ish years but it has only flowered once is this normal?
Also it is taking over the pot it lives in should it be divided or repotted how it is?

The most common reason is often due to insufficient light. Keep it moist but let it dry out in between watering and add fertilizer during the growing season. They usually flower better when planted in a pot and also if it is slightly pot bound. Shallow planting can encourage it to flower more profusely.

Difficult to say but they are not easy in the UK.
They need full sun and against popular belief, they grow better with a free root run.
Dont divide it just pot it on.
A greenhouse border is best, or very large pots.:)
