Apart from adding blue food dye to the roots of a white Rose, does anyone have any ideas on how to create a really Blue Rose?

If you could work that one out you would be a millionaire.

Some plants only have certain colours in their genes and so breeding a plant that has a colour that doesn't appear in any species of that particular plant is very difficult without genetic engineering.
One day it will probably happen, but I very much doubt it will be done outside of a laboratory.

As with blue colour dyed orchids they will revert to their natural colour (white) unless repeated again.
