Planted my Second Earlies 4 days ago and sprinkled in some bonemeal at the bottom of the trench. Seems to have attracted a fox as I found this first thing:

Do Foxes eat potatoes. Can't say I've heard of this before. Usually chickens, ducks etc.

Where I lived before here, the foxes loved potatoes - ok, admittedly they preferred them deep fried with some salt and pepper and cut into oblong shapes, but hey, urban foxes definitely aren't fussy :heehee:

No I reckon they were after the smell of the bonemeal, the potatoes were scrapped up and left intact, I have replanted them so no real harm done. I noticed a few other smaller holes in the garden a week or so ago, one had dug up some of my gladioli but not eaten the bulbs - again I'd used some bonemeal in the planting hole - I'm starting to put 2 and 2 together.

In that case, sprinkle bonemeal on the bit of the garden that still needs digging :)

Easier to find some human teeth in a graveyard and hand them into the police saying you dug them up on the allotment :)

Only works once though, they got wise to me the second time
