The addition of borage both the white and blue has been great for the bees, it seems by far the most popular plant in the garden at the minute. Doesn't seem to be a good season for butterflies in the garden though it's a question if I've seen more than half a dozen:scratch:

I typically don't get many butterflies in late June/early July but then get a huge influx of them in late July and then they visit in large numbers on sunny days right up to Autumn, perhaps that's what is happening in your own garden. :)

I've found that borage self seeds very easily and it's mainly for the bees.

I used to grow Borage but it tends to get quite big. I was thinking of growing it in pots but haven't tried that yet.
I don't think I've seen any butterflies at all this year yet but as @Nikolaos said they may come later, they did last year.

A friend gave me 3 Borage plants, which I put into a very large pot. They have grown well and flowered. Can't say I've seen much interest in them from the Bees. I did see one, but he didn't linger long.

I've got them planted in my herb patch and in the veg patch, the bees have loved them this summer. Not many butterflies though.

The one plant that has been an absolutely huge success with butterflies this year has been Eupatorium cannabinum (Hemp Agrimony), blue butterflies in particular (Holly and Common) seemed to adore it and visit daily! Also had quite a few visits from Green-veined Whites (which for some reason are a species I've been incapable of attracting until this Summer). Even had a couple of visits from Small Coppers which are of course far less common in gardens than all the above mentioned species! :dbgrtmb:
